48 Hours of Intense Heat

My hometown Miami Heat brought back one of the team's most popular promotions on Thursday, the 48 hours of intense Heat. The promotion dates back to the 2000 playoff run for the Miami Heat and asks fans to remain seated for 48 straight hours in front of the American Airlines Arena for a chance to win lower level tickets to all of the Heat's playoff games for 2009, a pair of 2009-2010 lower level season tickets, and free parking and concessions for every game in the 2009-2010 season.

Looks like alot more fun then any sneaker release camp out.

During the contest D Wade and the a few other Heat players came to visit the fans. Check out this flick of Dwayne Wade rocking the Retro IV's at the event.

I guess everyone really does wanna Be Like Mike.

Even guys that have their own signature sneaker with Converse.

Bulls' Rose Is Rookie of Year

Derrick Rose, who led his hometown Chicago Bulls to the playoffs and restored hope to a franchise in disarray, was the runaway pick yesterday as the NBA's rookie of the year.

Rose became the third Bulls player to win the award, joining Michael Jordan and Elton Brand. He received 111 first-place votes and 574 points from a national panel of sports writers and broadcasters; runner-up O.J. Mayo of the Memphis Grizzlies received five first-place votes and 127 points.

"When I first came into the season, my biggest thing was to get this award," Rose said. "I was telling you all that I didn't care, but I did. You really do want this award. There was a lot of talent out there that I had to go against."

Rose's selection was hardly a surprise, after the No. 1 overall draft pick led all rookies with 6.3 assists per game and was second in scoring average at 16.8.

Here's 10 reasons why Rose is the NBA's rookie of the year.

49 in 12

Alot of people are familiar with the time Mike rocked the #12 jersey instead of the #23 against the Magic back in the day when his jersey was stolen from the locker room before the game.

But what most people don't know is how good the game against Orlando was that night. Mike ended the action packed over time game with 49 points in a once in a life time #12 no name jersey appearance.

Here's a clip of that rarely seen performance. The video quality sucks, but its priceless footage. Enjoy-

Mike talkin' sh*t about DUKE

Take a look at this extended outtake of Mike revealing his feelings about Duke from HBO's Battle for Tobacco Road: Duke vs Carolina.

'84 Olympic Trials

Here is a rare look at a very young Michael Jordan during the '84 Olympic Trials. Nothing amazing about the video except for the fact that I have never seen it before. I love seeing vintage Michael Jordan footage for the first time. Enjoy-

One of my all time favorite movies.

What more could a die hard basketball head ask for?

A movie filmed and directed by Spike Lee, starring Ray Allen and Denzel Washinton, all set to the sound track of Public Enemy, with cameo's from Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley, Shaq, and ton of other NBA and college players and coaches.

"HE GOT GAME" is a classic flick for all basketball fans.

Here's the trailer:

If you havn't seen "HE GOT GAME" yet I suggest you add it to your Netflix.
Alot of dope 90's Nike basketball shoes pop up in this flick.
The Air Jordan X's, Penny Foams and the Jumpman Pro SE's just to name a few.

But the real star of the show for the sneakers goes to the Air Jordan XIII's that Denzel cops fresh outta prison and rocks the whole movie.

The HE GOT GAME movie inspired the first LIKE MIKE shirt ever released. And now after a year and a half the HE GOT GAME shirt is back!

The "HE GOT GAME" shirt is a perfect match for the Air Jordan XIII's. Get yours now for just $23 plus shipping. Shirts available now!

Any night I perform Like Mike

The Notorious B.I.G. said it best...

"Any night I perform Like Mike, anyone Tyson, Jordan, Jackson..."

Well Biggie wasn't talking about the night of February 11th, 1990...

That was the famous night that Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson.

Here's the video of that world famous KO.

For everyone old enough to remember when Mike Tyson was the biggest baddest mutha fucka on the planet they know how crazy that shit was. Mike Tyson was thought to be "unbeatable" before that fight. And it seems like Mike never really recovered from that knock out, his career has been one embarrassing headline after another ever since that night.

Little known fact:

The very same night half way across the world, another famous Mike got knocked out...

Mike Jordan.

No, he didn't get knocked the fuck out like Mike Tyson, but Mike did get knocked out of the NBA All-Star 3 Point contest in the first round by fellow Chicago Bull teammate Craig Hodges.

Thats right, Mike actually tried his luck at the 3 point contest during the NBA's 40th All-Star Weekend in Miami and failed miserably.

Jordan scored a 3-point contest history low 5 points.

Don't believe me, let the video do the talking.

Thats ok Mike, we all remember what you did in game 1 of the 92 finals...

Just ask Cliff Robinson if Mike has a nice 3 point shot.
